June 2021 From the Desk of Dave

Have you experienced the Power of God this week or month? Think about that, because this is an important question, as there are some who may not know how to discern this question. There are some who may not realize that they have an influence in whether they experience the Power of God on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. As I minister to people, there are two things that really make an impact with them.

Love- When people truly see the love of Jesus and that we sincerely care, they are drawn to that. Think of Christ’s ministry, the multitudes followed Him, and they didn’t follow the Pharisees like that. Christ’s love is genuine and powerful.

Power- Most people want to make changes; they just don’t know how. If we show and help them, they are obtaining God’s Power for real victory.

There are 4 aspects of love that I want to share, and as we progress in them, we will experience a greater degree of God’s Power and Love.

Personal Love

Christ must be our personal Savior. Otherwise we can’t experience His Spirit and we lack His Truth. Christ must be our close friend and we must nurture this friendship. Christ must also be our First Love, because it’s much too easy to get caught up in the cares of the world. The Lord says; For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. So we know from this passage that by examining our treasures, we’ll know where our heart is. Where are we investing our time, our desires, our thoughts, our money? There will be our heart.

Pure Love

1 Tim 1:5 But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from a sincere faith.

-A Pure heart is a Pure present- Pure motives help us make the right decisions on a daily basis.

-A good conscience is keeping a Pure past- Confessing sin clears up past issues in our lives.

-A sincere faith is a Pure future- Do I trust God in where and how He is leading me?

Mat 5:8- Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Do you want to see God? Purity sees God!

Proven Love

2 Tim 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. He proves His Love!!!

If we want to experience the Power of God’s love, He’s going to require us to Prove our love! Unproven love is talk or theory, proven love is testimony. God wants to see it; People want to see it. Our testimony therefore is not in what we say, it’s in how we live and love. We would not be nearly as excited by the words of Jesus, were it not for the walk and sacrifice of Jesus!

Powerful Love

We by nature are impressed and inspired by Power. We are moved by Power, we pursue Power. God Spoke Creation into existence- do you believe that He has that Power? If God can speak the universe into existence, He can help us in our struggles! People want to see God’s Power. So often they don’t see it, so they lose hope. If they don’t see God’s Power, they’ll look for power elsewhere. If they’ve been hurt, they turn to the power of drugs and alcohol or many other vices to numb their hurts. Many people that reject God are not doing so out of a deliberate action, but out of a painful reaction, they need God’s power.

God’s Word and ways are powerful.

Do you want to be filled? We all want to be filled. Well, Matt 5:6 says; “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” It’s the only place you’ll be filled.

Do you want to overcome bitterness? Embrace God’s Grace and forgive. Heb 12:15

God works in Power for them that love Him.

The Moabites and Ammonites came against Jehoshaphat and Judah, they fasted and prayed and the Lord delivered them. Daniel, a bondservant of king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, was the least powerful man on earth while he served the most powerful man on earth, yet in the spiritual realm, Daniel was so powerful that the king turned to him in his times of need. Spiritual power is far more valuable than earthly power.

It is amazing what man will do to obtain God’s Power; Zacchaeus climbed a tree to see Jesus, one woman was willing to just touch the Lord’s robe, others tore apart a roof to lower a man down to see Jesus.

Personal, Pure and Proven love will lead us into His Powerful Love! We should aim for it.

Paul was rebuking the Corinthian church and in 1 Cor. 4:18-20 he states the following;

“Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you. But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

In their particular case they needed a rebuke, but we can take it as wisdom. We should not settle for a superficial relationship with our Savior, we are far more blessed if we pursue the Power of His Love.

In verse 12:9 of Paul’s second letter to the Corinthian church, he stated; “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

So, we must ask the question:

Have you experienced the Power of God this month or this week; the Power of His Love?

If not, I would encourage you to pursue Him, and when you do, Pursue Him Personally, in Purity and Prove your love- and rest assured, you will see the Power of His Love!

This is my desire for all that grace our doors at A Ray of Hope.

Blessings and the Power of His Love to you,

Dave
