A Second Chance

In 2018, I was living in Washington headed for a not-so-bright future. I was in and out of jail and my son (10 years old) was living with my mom while I was in a tent nearby. In April 2018, I was incarcerated and my son's dad decided to come from Montana and pick him up. 4 days later, my mom died. It took me the better part of the month to realize that I was no one without my son, so I moved to Montana. With only a backpack full of clothes and nowhere to go, I just knew that I needed to be near my son, Peggy and Bob were both still with us at this point.. so I filled out an application and they gave me a chance. Not long after they opened Peggy's house, I was one of the first women to stay in the new shelter. I stayed for about 6 months while I got things situated with custody of my son and a job.
After I left Peggy's house, I was sober for about a year and then I started drinking quite heavily. This led to harder things, as addiction would have it, and it didn't take long for me to need a hand up again! I was again homeless and living in my car with my dog (Chewy). I got charged with possession in Idaho and I interstate compacted to Montana. I was in and out of jail with probation violations and two different treatment centers. When I got out of Passages, everyone at A Ray of Hope welcomed me a second time with open arms. Words cannot express how grateful I am for this place! Jesus flows through this house and touches every soul that comes through these doors. I am 198 days clean and sober today and I give all the grace and glory to God! I couldn't have done it without Him or A Ray of Hope. Thankyou! Tamera
