Walking With Jesus

I found myself seeking a relationship with God through my troubles in life so many times. I always seemed to fall off and give up. I was addicted to drugs and falling deeper into a pit of darkness. For the better part of 8 years, after losing my daughter and her mother to my addiction, I continued to fall. I wandered for years seeking something I couldn’t find. I would talk with God, and he always saved me when I needed Him most. And yet I would fall back into the same pattern of sin. Almost 2 years ago now, I was arrested, and I think it was God's way of saving my life. I began diligently reading God's word and seeking a relationship with him. I continued this when I got out of jail and found myself surrounded by sin with the people I lived with. I had nowhere else to go, and through prayer and strength given by the Lord, I remained clean in the midst of all the people drinking and using around me. I would get picked up every Sunday for church. One Sunday I had to walk into Town for church. It was a long walk along the highway, and I talked with God, asking him what to do to get out of the situation I was in. He spoke to me and told me to move out of the house. I began searching for a reasonable option when I came across the Ray of Hope website. I knew I had to get approval from my probation and complete my treatment program first. The following day, I was walking into town along the highway again, praying aloud, talking to God, and asking for his help on my way to see my counselor and Probation. As I was praying, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye shining in the grass. I knelt and picked up a guitar pick that said Pick Jesus and Romans 10:13 “Whosoever Shall Call Upon the name of the Lord Shall Be Saved” written on it. I made it into town, and my counselor informed me that I had graduated from treatment and that my probation approved my transfer to Kalispell on the spot. I came here and got accepted by the Ray of Hope right away. My prayers were answered, and I have found a real Family in Christ here. I am now surrounded by opportunities to build my faith rather than hiding from sin. Daily Bible studies, brothers and sisters in Christ to commune with, and the opportunity to be a blessing to others has saved my life. The Ray of Hope was my last hope. Thanks to them, my hope in Christ and my walk with Christ has brought me home.
